IT's funny. I too hate the cell phones in my classroom but a part of me keeps thinking that if they are this integrated into the lives of my students, I cannot have a relevant curriculum while growing this hatred.

Recently I was watching videos on YouTube and I came across a really interesting one from the West Jordan school district in Utah. I'll attach the link at the bottom of this post. While I did not agree with everything that it said, it definitely made my ears perk up and started the old noodle a turning.

Oh, grrrrr. I'm at school and cannot access YouTube (another case where something that could be good cannot be used). If you are interested, just put in "education" and "technology" and spend some time watching what others have to say.

Thank you for this great web site. I am definitely using it for my class. It looks fun and high school students might get bored with this one sooner, but it is something they might be willing to try anyway.

For my middle school students, it will be something! Now I have too many interesting things to try with these energetic kids. :)

Wow, awesome site. My kids are going to eat this up. I like how you can save stuff without an email. That is great because of all the issues that arise with student emails. Also, I like "Comic Creator" but you can't save student creations.

I always think it is very useful to have a projector in the classroom especially when we can get online with a desktop or laptop. I have used it to show my students how to write Chinese characters in some software. There is so much resource to explore online for education. Of course my middle school has one for each wing/team, and since I teach electives, it is hard to plan my lessons ahead if I am not sure if I can get one for that class.

Sometimes the Mac in the middle school couldnt't play java program integrated on some web sites, so it will be great to have a PC and a Mac in the classroom. Actually this dream is becoming true, almost. They are going to put a parallel software on my Mac so that it can run Windows XP as well. :) My next dream is to have one projector that I can use all the time.

My teammates and I have started looking at grants to get more technology in our classrooms. There are a lot out there and some don't get many applications. I got my projector from a grant by going to a class at Metro. Two people from my school went, and we were able to buy 3 projects for our team. That could be something to look into if you want to get one for your classroom full time.

That's my dream too! After teaching for about a year with a LCD projector, laptop, and SmartBoard and now not having them I am really bitter. They keep telling me that we are getting projectors in each of the math rooms, but I have yet to see them this year and am not sure that I will before June. Doesn't it make you a little bit sad that we can't even stop thinking about jobs in our dreams:) But I guess we wouldn't be educators if we didn't always put our jobs first.

This is where I struggle with technology; I want to be with people. I want to talk to my students, I want to talk to my classmates, I want interpersonal communication.

Where do we draw the line?
